Ralph Gordon Marold
(September 13, 1944 - January 29, 2013)

Alamosa – Ralph Gordon “R.G.” Marold, 68, of Saguache, Colorado passed away in Alamosa on January 29, 2013. He was born to Horace and Irene Marold in Monte Vista, Colorado on September 13, 1944.

R.G. grew up on the family ranch in Saguache where he developed his love of animals. He graduated from San Juan County High School in Blanding, Utah. He attended Colorado State University and Ft. Lewis College and graduated with a degree in Spanish and Literature. He met the love of his life, Judy Harvey at Ft. Lewis. They married in 1970 and left the country to serve for two years in the Peace Corps in Peru. In 1976, he began his career in teaching at Mountain Valley School in Saguache. He also ran the family ranch raising sheep and cattle.

R.G. loved riding his horses and caring for the ranch stock. He took great joy in teaching and watching his students grow and learn. His first love was always his family and he took great pride in their accomplishments.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, of Saguache, his daughter Eleana (James) Merriam and children Jace and Addysen of Grand Junction, Colorado, his son Aaron, of Saguache, his sister Randi Marold and his brother-in-law, Tomas L. (Debbie) Springer of Grand Junction, Colorado.

R.G. was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Florence Springer.

Cremation was selected and a gathering of family and friends will be held in the spring to celebrate his life. Contributions are suggested to the Northern Saguache County Ambulance District and may be mailed to 300 4th Street, Saguache, Colorado 81149.
