Cone, Thomas Boyd

Cone, Thomas Boyd, passed away 2/26/09, in Berkeley at age 66. A 40 year resident of Berkeley, Tom was born and raised in Santa Ana, CA. He attended Santa Ana High School, then went on to earn his bachelor of science degree at UC Santa Barbara, and his master's degree in public health from UCLA.

Tom lived a full and diversified life; he served two years in the Peace Corp in Peru (University Education) , worked for the State Dept. of Public Health in Sacramento, was a real estate agent for Red Oak Realty, and owned and operated his own brokerage.

Tom was rooted in the Berkeley culinary scene, first as a waiter at Chez Panisse, then going on to own and operate his own restaurant.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Thomas Byron Cone and Dorothy Boyd Cone. He leaves behind his son, Thomas Garabedian Cone of Berkeley; his sister, Nancy Cone Berry of Laguna Woods; his fiance, Bari Nelson of Berkeley; as well as many friends.

Those who knew and loved him will dearly miss him. Tom was a faithful member of All Souls Episcopal Church in Berkeley where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at l:00 p.m. His final resting place will be in Santa Ana Cemetary.
