Bolivia leader says aid program no longer tied to Venezuelan funds
By Associated Press
Morales says local money will now back the program known as “Bolivia changes, Evo delivers.” He says funds from allied leftist governments have helped finance it until now. In the past, he has identified Venezuela as the key backer.
The program is under his control and has little legislative or administrative oversight. He says it has carried out 4,000 projects across the country. They include things like the soccer field he inaugurated Sunday, when he announced the change
It is not clear if the government of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is shifting to other sorts of aid in Bolivia.
