Patricia (Patt) Behler Patricia (Patt) Behler has worked with the AMIGOS group for about 12 years. She has been involved in most aspects of the organization and helped develop the Kantuta Awards program. Serving in Arequipa, Peru,1962-64, as a community development worker, she helped establish a nursery school as well as assisting in a furniture design project to encourage people to design and make their own home furnishings inexpensively. She also assisted in translating class lectures from English to Spanish for students in a chemistry class taught by another volunteer, who was a retired chemical consultant for a large US firm. An individual project that she developed was a small neighborhood library for youth which was continued by another volunteer in a nearby school after her departure. After returning to the States, she changed her profession from teaching elementary art to that of youth services librarian and worked in this capacity as a consultant with the Missouri State Library for 18 years until her retirement. She also belongs to the Central Missouri Returned Peace Corps Volunteers affiliate which includes members from the Columbia/Jefferson City area. Her other interests include activities in the art and music world. Since retirement she has traveled to Malta, Finland, England, Germany, Canada and China as well as to various US locations. |
